Going, Going, Gone

A couple of weeks ago my hair started shedding more, so I decided to be proactive and have my husband shave it off. I wasn't sure how this part of the journey would be. Since then, I have been pretty okay, since my wonderful husband says I look beautiful bald--he's the greatest! I have not bought a wig yet, and am sticking with hats. This has just been another humbling part of this journey.

On the upside: It will be fun to watch it grow back and try some new hairstyles I never would have tried before. The doctors have told me that hair often grows back different initially. So I might get to try curly, dark hair for awhile:)

Thought I would share a few pics of my transformation. It sure does cut down on getting ready--no hair drying or styling!

Oh, Kelly, you *do* look absolutely beautiful. But even more beautiful is your strength and your faith in God. You are an inspiration.

I echo what Katrina has stated...what is beautiful is a godly woman facing a difficult trial, praising God, loving Him, and being joyful in the process. You radiate true beauty in the deepest meaning of the word.

I appreciate your testimony to God's great strength and power in your life...this is the power of Christ in you.

After the initial shock of losing my hair, it was the most liberating thing EVER! No fuss, no muss in the morning, and it was so nice in the summer when it was hot.

I agree with your husband...you look great without hair. Some people have really knobby, bumpy heads, but yours looks beautiful.

My hair came back exactly the same, and you would never know that I lost mine to begin with! You have such a great attitude, and I am continuing to pray for you...

You tempt me to shave my own head and see if my cheekbones and facial structure would look as amazing as yours! More than that, you stand as a sister in Christ encouraging me through your example to press forward in the race He has given to me. Heb 12:1-3, friend. Thanks for being a blessing to us.

What a gorgeous momma! No escaping that beautiful smile :)

My eyes immediately filled with tears when I saw this picture but it was not because of your bald head but rather the glorious light of Christ in your eyes!

"Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you." Luke 11:36

You are so beautiful girl. I second Kelly's comments above me. Your eyes say it all---they said "I AM GOD'S GIRL!"

You're husband speaks the truth. Not many people could pull off that look. You look lovely, even if you never planned on this hairstyle.

Oh, Kelly you are beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!! I am just catching up on your journey. (I have not been much of a blogger lately)

Your words have blessed me. You have brought it all back to Christ. I just read your blog's theme verse yesterday, "They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the Lord was my support. He also brought me out into a spacious place; He delivered me because He delighted in me." Psalm 18:18-19

Love you and will be praying for you! May God be glorified through it all!

He shines through you, my friend. I haven't visited (anyone!) in so long, and now I've come here to catch up on this... you are in my family's prayers- we have a prayer basket we all draw from at every meal prayer, and your precious name is there. I send love... xoxo

I just realized I had not visited or heard from you in awhile - after your summer break my fall was out of whack due to my mom's death.

Wow - I had no idea this was happening. I am definitely keeping up with you more closely.

And you do look absolutely beautiful. You have such a sweet smile, and God is just shining out through you.

Blessings, my blog friend.

Kelly, I have been in a blog rut for a long time and not been blog-hopping. Wow, what a year 2009 has been for you thus far!

You are beautiful and courageous sharing your journey with the world. Your new haircut really makes your eyes stand out, and really radiate joy inside...what a testimony. I will be praying for you and looking forward to watching you kill those cancer cells and be a blessing to all those you come in contact with!
