Going Pink-Updated

On January 8th, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. All indications are that it is in early stages, which is a blessing. I will be going through chemotherapy, surgery, and possibly radiation over the next months. I covet your prayers during this new journey. My prayer is to "consider it pure joy" during this trial, that God may be glorified through my weakness. I hope that I may then be able to minister to other women who experience this disease after my recovery.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:1-4)

**Tuesday Update**
I had surgery yesterday to put in the chemotherapy port and have a lymph node biopsy. I will get my first chemotherapy treatment on Wednesday the 28th. I am anxious to start killing some cancer cells! I hope to be back at the computer by Friday:) Thank you all for your words and encouragement and prayers!

I am a radiation therapist by trade, so if you have ANY questions about your radiation treatments, please don't hesitate to email me.

As a cancer survivor myself, I think that blogging about your experience is a great idea. I kept a journal during chemotherapy, and it was really helpful to get all of my ups an downs on paper.

It gives me such joy to see that you are viewing this experience as a chance to glorify God. You are in such a unique position for being a witness for Christ, and I will be praying for healing and strength during the next several months.

Oh Kelly, I clicked over here thinking a PG announcement was the news. Now though, I will count it a specific privilege to follow your journey and pray for your health--physical and spiritual. I anticipate that God will be greatly glorified in your life and witness.

Lord, I ask that You will give Kelly pure joy in this time. May You give the doctors wisdom and bring her back to full health. Be with her and her family, and give peace and comfort during this difficult time. Amen.

Kelly,
Sometimes the only words needed to be spoken are words uplifted to the Lord, the Great Physician. May he bring you peace and comfort during this season of life. Your journey is not alone.

Oh Kelly, it is so good to see your name in my comments. I've missed you and your blog so much. I just checked several days ago, but didn't see this post. I'm so glad you are sharing your journey with all of us. I will begin praying for you and asking for you to be completely cured. My friend DeeDee, the women's ministry leader at my former church, has also recently been diagnosed and is journaling her progress. Please go by and see her at http://deedeesharon.blogspot.com/. She is an amazing women who blows me away with her wisdom and love for Christ. Just like you! Take care and let me know if there is anything I can do. Hugs!
